Crack in plastic radiator tank at upper hose

Hi,
I have a crack that on the top of the plastic radiator tank
where the upper hose connects. I put a couple of zip ties around the
plastic fitting where the upper hose connects, and used clear epoxy
and a piece of tire inner tube to stop it from leaking.
I am not having overheating problems, my problem is that the rubber patch
came unglued, the epoxy didn't maintain it's bond. Has anyone out there
ever fixed a similar crack in the plastic tank of the radiator?
I have an'87 9KT, and it runs at normal temp. It only leaks a little,
but it's a potential big problem if I ever run out of coolant, plus its
just not a good idea to leave the cooling system leaking. I imagine that
as the plastic expands and contracts, the epoxy expands at a different rate, and so that won't work. Anyone know what adhesive or putty
will do the job?
Thanks, MichaelO
