I would go with the 1998 w/103K, hands down (I have a 1994 CSE with 180K). Here’s why: The 1998 was a much upgraded 9000 (almost an Aero) like:
225-hp Ecopower 2.3L F.P. Turbo (200-hp in auto) engine,
Super Aero, 16" rims with exposed lugs,
Standard front and rear spoilers,
Harman-Kardon 10 speaker radio system,
The console switches in the '98 are the new (9-5 like) style and less prone to malfunction.
Although the ‘98 has more miles, many wear items are time related and not mileage related. For example: non-moving metal parts, rubber parts, wires and paint which had 5 years less exposure to oxidation and rust.
The 2.3L can last well over 300K with proper oil change and maintenance. The difference of 28K in terms of engine wear is really less then 10%
If otherwise both cars were similarly in good shape, I would go with the 1998 and even would be ready to pay up to $1500-$1800 more.
