...you can use either one, without any major differences in performance.

You are familiar with the Blow OFF valve, venting all of the boost pressure to atmosphere...

and you are familiar with the BYPASS valve, venting the same pressure back into the intake manifold...

well...

On cars with air mass meters on the intake, Blow OFF valves cause a problem of stalling, whenever the pressure is released.

This is because the air mass meter and the ECU calculated a specific ammount of air heading towards the engine, and it is prepared to greet this ammount of air with the proper ammount of FUEL...

if you install a Blow OFF valve, the air never reaches the engine, however the FUEL still does! So what you are left with is an incredible ammount of fuel going unburned, and your engine STALLING!

I drive a 1990 9000 turbo, with an air mass meter system, and i cantell you that this is pretty instantaneous... after accelerating under boost pressure, and releasing the throttle suddenly, the car immediately stalls...

thus, we use a Bypass valve system, and the air is returned to the intake and the ECU is happy.

NOW...

on YOUR car, with a trionic engine management system, i believe there is NO AIR MASS METER! So... you can use one of the nifty Blow OFF valves, and you shouldn't have a problem.

The blow OFF valve is rumored to be louder when releasing pressure, however, i can argue that with my Bypass valve, made by Hyperboost, is as loud as i need to it be.

when releasing between 10 and 20 psi, i can hear it inside of the car with all of the windows up, and music on. ;)

now you can imagine, OUTSIDE of the car... it is PLENTY loud...

loud enough to startle pedestrians as i pass them!

Either one should work for you, you might have to modify your car slightly to fit a Blow OFF vavle though... as i think it comes stock with a bypass valve system...

i'm not a specialist on the newer saabs, so someone else will have to give you the specifics.

have fun!
