I agree the price of parts for Saabs can be ridiculous.

I have just changed the gearshift linkage joint which I imported from the USA to save money. However, it came without the small tapered pin which locks it onto the gearbox selector shaft. When I priced it with Saab they quoted me $16.23 US. Now this is a part I would expect to pay $1 US for.

Prices for parts in Australia are often four times the amount shown by eEuroparts on their website. I can manage only by doing all the repairs and maintenance myself and thus saving labour and GST costs.

Years ago I owned a Citroen Light 15. People used to say to me "Parts are expensive for Citroens" and I would respond that the price of parts were indeed high, however, as you needed so few spare parts it was never a problem. Unfortunately from my short experience with Saabs this is not the case and you appear to need lots of replacement parts.

I think Saab (Australia) are doing themselves a dis-service by charging so much for parts and this must have a long term affect in diverting would be buyers to other brands.
