Anyone ever rebuilt a 5-speed themselves?

Greetings all,
Playing around with the idea of rebuilding a transmission on a 94 Aero. If the car can be gotton cheaply enough (and I can find a place to keep it) I'm inclined to take a swipe at rebuilding the transmission myself. Why the heck not? Well, you're going to TELL me why the heck not, I know that....
Bottom line is that I don't necessarily care if I succeed or fail -- just looking for a winter project and haven't done a transmission before. I've just about done everything else one does with 9000s, including engine rebuilds, clutches, etc. And if I'm successful, I'll have one heckuva car in the end! I'm even not too terribly far from Ericksson's and maybe they could put the finished product on a dyno and let it destroy itself without having to install it on the car first.
Any experiences with '94 rebuilds? Procedures available online? Caveats? Insults?
