Wait until your original one goes out and then install the updated metal heatercore and that will be last one you will ever do. BarLeak is nothing but trouble and just a temporary fix but clogs up your cooling system in the meantime. My heatercore started letting out the sweet smell so I added the BarLeak right after I had a new thermostat and coolant temp sensor installed under warranty. About a month later my car was running cold while on the highway, classic stuck open thermo. Took it back to the dealer because they just replaced it and the tech showed me the black tar that had ungulfed my sensor and brand new thermostat preventing it from closing. My expansion tank looked like the Exxon Valdez dumped some of it's oil in there, solid black! My insides of my coolant hoses were caked in the same tar. Yes, the smell away from the tar clogging the holes in the heatercore, but I spent more on replacing every coolant hose in the entire engine, thermostat again! and doing several chemical flushes than if I just replaced the heatercore in the first place. I went through six distilled water/chemical flushes and there was still small back pieces coming out. The miscomception is that people will say "yea, BarLeak worked great, no more heatercore leak" but do not understand what is has done to the cooant system where you cannot see. I use the silver bottle liquid, not the pellets. By the way, everything above happenned at only 60K miles on my 1997 CSE-T. Do not be cheap, do it right.
