the car works today
the hydraulics still seem strong
the metallic rubbing whine i hear when i press in the clutch is coming and going, but still there (sigh), and the pedal seems smoother when i don't hear the whine.
there is still a little resistance at the bottom of clutch travel that i also feel as i release (when this resistance was at it's worst, the pedal would get stuck).
if you search on gritty, and pick the posts related to clutch, you'll see what i mean, similar scenario - new slave/master/t/o bearing
i went back and re-read the instructions from the nines
they had gotten soaked when a sunny day turned dark turned rain storm as we put the transmission in, and i couldn't read them anymore
there is a "note" that is not part of the numbered directions:
A very light coating of oil on the splines of the clutch shaft will make action smoother and installation easier
I didn't do this, and to the opposite, I had thoroughly cleaned and power-washed the transmission while it was out to make installation clean to work with (also the bell housing was filled with oily dirt).
Any possibility the lack of lubricant could be part of my symptoms??
Any possibility of lubricating it now with the car together??
the upside is, the car is a blast to drive again, and i feel so good about it I took the 93 in to have it aligned so maybe i can finally figure out what is wrong with the right front end that's causing noise (and possibly the hard right pull).
