I hope someone comes through with an answer for this...
Background: The 5 speed transmission I got for the 94 CDE FPT auto to 5 speed conversion from Rumrill's Garage is a FM-57001. It is for the LPT. The drive cups are smaller than those from the FPT. The 5 speed transmission for the FPT version is FM-57101. The only difference, I think, is the size of the drive cup.
Rumrill's garage has since found a rear engine mount bracket/axle bearing for the FPT 5 speed. That solves the problem for the passenger side. The problem now is the driver side.
I know the FPT drive cup for the automatic transmission has a different base than the 5 speed.
Question: Does anyone know if it is easy to change the base of the drive cup on the transmission side from one to another?
If swapping it doesn't require shop work, John at Rumrill's can find a large drive cup and base from an auto box and have me change the base using the one from the 5 speed transmission he gave me so I can complete my project.
I no longer have the automatic transmission and the drive cup/base for the 94cde. I sold it within a week after acquiring the car.
