Soft brake pedal

My 91 9kt was having a hard break pedal. Had the fluid replaced and that helped, but one day I was at a stop light with foot on brake pedal when I heard a light crack sound and then all of a sudden I had a soft pedal. I can't remember if the ABS light came on when this happened. I think it did. If I was working on the old Ford truck I would say the master cylinder went. As for the abs and antilock dash lights they go off after 10-20secs on start up. I will do the accumulater test but any ideas. Thanks
Brian
