The dash is surprisingly easy to remove and install, having gone through it putting the clutch pedal assembly in my auto to 5 speed conversion. But I also broke a few lock tabs for the switches.

1) remove the felt trim on the front pillar. Pry the trim out from the top. There are three plastic plugs on the trim. Be gentle. Pull up and toward you sitting in the front seat.

2) Loosen and remove one screw on the top and two on the side to remove the speaker grill. This exposes two more screws for the dash top.

3) Other than four screws for the dash top after both speaker grills are removed, there are two more. One is located in the recess under the top of the instrument cluster near the turbo gage. Another is behind the SRS trim on the left of the airbag panel after removing the trim.

4) Lift the dash top. Carefully pop the black sensor off near the middle of the dash top.

5) Pop all switches from behind now the dash top is removed. I recommend doing this with at least 70 degree ambient temperature for fear of breaking lock tabs on the switches in cold temperature. Use a heat gun if you have to.

6) Remove radio with the radio removal tool.

7) There are only three screws fastening the dash to the frame after the dash top is removed. Two are hidden behind plastic covers also with lock tabs. Remove them very carefully for the tabs may be broken easily. The first plastic cover is between two switches below the headlight switch. The second is in the area of the seat heater switches and inside temperature sensor. The remaining screw for the dash is near the shifter. I think there are also two near the radio cage. But you'll see them after the radio is removed.

8) Slide the dash up after the screws are removed.

Unless you are experienced, and careful, you may break the many lock tabs on the switches. The ones most prone to breakage are the headlight switch, and the plastic covers for two of the three front dash screws.

I am now looking for a headlight switch on Ebay. One of the plastic cover lock tabs I broke I'll just glue it back until I can get a good one.
