Anders, have you ever seen this?…

I got some good responses from other folks, but due to the unusual nature of the problem I thought I would see if you had ever run across this.
On my ’86 9kT I pressed the clutch in and started the car. When I released the clutch, it felt very soft. Now there is a loss of brake fluid when I press the clutch and I see no movement at the slave cylinder. However, I am able to put the car in gear, with the engine running and the clutch released. The shift couple is okay. This suggests to me that the slave cylinder somehow failed with the clutch disengaged, which seems very strange to me.
Have you ever seen this happen in your shop? Obviously, I’d prefer not to have to pull the slave cylinder if it could be something else so I want to check as this seems a bit strange.
Thanks for any help!
