Seriously - it does seem that the NGK BCPR 7ES is the only plug to use, because these "talk" to the ECU correctly.
The Haynes manual says you can use the Champion RC7YCC4, gapped to 1.0mm. That's the only source I've read giving this information and I see that the only advertisement in my Haynes book is, surprise surprise, for Champion plugs.
You know that you need resistor plugs, I'm sure.
I have tried NGK platinum plugs and found they did nothing extra good or extra bad, so I sent them off to another board contributor - never heard how he got on with them. One tuner has reported more fouling with Platinums, which islow to clear. People using Platinums seem to report better results with the 6 heat range, not the 7 (ie. the warmer plug works better). I think the same plugs are sometimes used in 9-5s.
There was a recent post from an Aero owner who fitted Bosch platinum plugs - with multiple electrodes, I think - and subsequently a piston rod broke. He was wondering if the events could be connected and a discussion ensued.
Bottom line seems to be - find the NGKs!
