Where I live is way into the bowels of dirt road country, and this
kind of breakage is always a big problem; but:
I found a great place to get 'helicopter tape', this is apparently
what many folks use to protect their lights as well as even their
paint from flying debris.
This is what I have been using so far this year, and it is working
very well indeed (There aren't any holes to start with this time,
and none have appeared either).

If you would like the company info please email me and I will be
happy to share it with you, but I don't want to risk breaking a
rule here by posting a link to a company.

In the past I have always covered those 'bb holes' with clear RTV,
and it always worked well after the damage was done; but now I
would like to prevent the damage from happening, if possible.
