Just a hint on brushes
1. where they are soldered the connector is crimped which causes problems trying to remove the brushes flexible brad.
Trick is to lightly grind the top so its flat , then drill a hole thru the center with a #27 drill bit , then tap thru a small thin nail.
That will expand the crimped connector so when you heat it with a soldering iron the brad comes out easily and the crimp connector does not crack
2. You will notice that your old brush could be used if the brad did not hold it back, Dont make the new brad longer than the original, there are reasons they dont let you wear down the complete brush.
3. use a high temperature solder , there are a lot of low melting solder, the brush has high current thru it and may normally at time be hot, even more important on rebuilding the Starter ,thanks Wasyl at Saabradio
