A few questions-
What year /model car? Does it have manual or automatic (ACC) climate control? Basically, knobs or no knobs?
Next, what does the temperature gauge do? Does it get much up off the peg? If the temp gauge doesn't go up to at least 8:00 after the car warms up, then chances are your thermostat is stuck open.
Of course, check for coolant. The heater core is at the top of the coolant circuit, and if you run low, you'll get air in the heater core - and that means no heat.
If the thermostat appears to work, and you've got sufficient coolant in the system, if you have the ACC system, run self-test (hit AUTO and VENT at the same time). Let it run it's course.
If THAT doesn't fix it, open the hood. Remove the horizontal plastic cover at the base of the windshield, on the passenger side (US). Coming out of the side of the blower box is a shaft with an arm, and on the arm is a wire that goes back into the dashboard. That connects to a servo in ACC systems, the knob in manual systems. See if the arm has broken off the shaft. Not uncommon. Saab dealers sell a $8 kit to fix the arm without having to remove anything.
