Never did the CV boot myself on the 9k..
But having removed the drive shaft for the auto to 5 speed conversion on the 94 cde, I think removing it to replace the boot on the bench is so much easier. Of course you have to overcome the 220 ft-lbs torque of the axle nut. With my 3/4" drive metric socket set (made cheap in you-know-where), it is a piece of cake to remove the nut.
