Sounds like the same thing that happened to my Aero. Take off the shift boot, held in place via elastic so it is easy to remove and replace, to see if the plastic housing that holds the shift coupler? in place is tight. If very loose you will need to re-attach and, as mentioned in another post, tie the plasic housing in place....until you decide how serious yo want to get in fixing this thing. I actually wedged a piece of plastic to prevent the coupler? from disconnecting...and never bothered to do a more complicated/expensive fix.
The housing interlocks and uses a piece of string to hold it in place from the factory. For all the nice engineering features the 9000 has, this little bit was a really stupid after thought. I was annoyed to see a 42K car with a piece of string holding things together.
