ok. one day without a new symptom would be nice.
it is such a nice car.
and it's running ok now, or it was before i turned it off.
but i'm concerned, because this is the 93 9000 CSE auto that has been the victim of one burned up di and a failed di in the same day.
i now have a new di in there and i'm worried.
what happened is this...
i started the car and thought that perhaps i let up on the key too soon but it caught and stumbled and then ran like crap for the next couple minutes, missing, while i played around with hoses and wires to no avail...
i felt like if i shut it off and started again it would be ok, and that was the case. i shut it off, started it again with a nice turn of the key, and it ran normally.
(normal for this car is smooth, but with too much vibration for my taste at idle - smooths out at about 1200 rpms - i've been thinking motor mounts, but i'm open...)
(normal is also to idle at about 900 and drop a little every few seconds to 850 or 800 like there's a drop in something, or an increased load (ac binding somewhere?) belt slipping - sometimes it seems to, though it feels tight and looks fine))
so then while running fine i disconnected an injector and it fairly well reproduced the original symptoms, maybe a little different, but missing well, so maybe i was missing on two cylinders the first time??
anyway, i'm worried about ruining my new di, if i could.
this car has had this symptom since i got it several months ago...
when i first got it, it happened, now and then, and would run like crap, but i replaced plugs, ran fuel injector, and swapped out the di with the nicer looking one from my 92 9000S. the 93 then ran better and that weird stumbled start only happened a few times a few weeks later...
when it did happen, i also felt like maybe i let up on the ignition key too soon and it caught when it shouldn't have and stumbled, but back then, it would usually correct itself and smooth out.
maybe i only think i'm letting up too soon because it does 'just catch' and stumble, when it happens...
even my bad di will smooth itself out somewhat after it starts, but then just run like crap.
this was full missing.
here's the QUESTION?
are the failed/bad di's and this symptom related?
can i induce this behavior by letting up on the ignition key prematurely, is this my doing??
or, do i have an injector problem, some relay sticking with incomplete ignition (my fault) perhaps, though i checked all connectors and they were clean, and wiggling them does nothing.
or, is there some other mysterious saab problem going on, that a saab mech would charge me $$$$ to trace down and never find.
any help would be so much APPRECIATED!
wait, the only other thing i had done prior to starting was wire the low speed fan to stay on all the time until i get my new rad, thermostat, and switch (though from the sounds of it, maybe my switch does work when it's supposed to). that seems to work nicely, keeps the car around 9 pm all the time now.
