A strange idle can sometimes be caused by strange issues within the ecu, that cause a spaztic idle.
sometimes this is evidence of poor performance from the ecu too, the programs are just screwy.
why you ask? I honestly don't know! But i've been using this method to correct a spaztic idle and un-diagnosable performance issues for years.
Just unhook your battery overnight and reset the computers.
Unhook the positive battery terminal, then the negative. Go to sleep, and in the morning hook them up again, negative first, then positive...
...this is because some computers in some years take longer to reset than others, i've found this method is FOOLPROOF at resetting them, and it's no trouble at all cause you're not driving your car when you're sleeping anyways, unless you sleep drive. ;) which i don't recommend by the way, i've done it and it's not fun, especially with a disconnected battery...
...anyways...
reset the computers via this method, and take her out for a spin.
If the idle problem is seemingly gone, then try driving "spiritedly" and see if the performance issues are better to.
If they are, then HEY you just fixed your problems for free! It's worth a try, isn't it?
If you haven't gotten a performance exhaust kit yet i'd recommend that to you before you do anything else. don't buy it from abbot though, i have the complete abbott racing exhaust from the turbo back, cost me $1500, no joke, and it's not worth it considering it didn't come with a cat, and i could have gotten the jt 3" system WITH a cat SHIPPED and STILL had money to spare...
...my 2 cents, enjoy!
