You might want to have a spare DI anyway. You can pick on up on ebay usually. The original one in my '97 900 was still going strong at 93k when I sold it. I think 1.0mm for the spark plugs is at the top end of the spec for gap, and the gap always grows, so I'd gap them a little less than that.
Definitely check all vac hoses, and replace with silicone hoses if not already done. Also check the hoses going to the BPC valve.
