If it's idling good and stable, then the possibility of a massive leak is small. There is a chance that it can leak under pressure but not under vacuum but you'd hear an audible rush of air when the turbo's trying to pressurize. Don't forget to check the underside of the throttle housing where the IAC valve (Idle Air Control) hose connects to the throttle house as this is know to come loose/break. The way to test if the turbo's trying to pressurize with no success (you have a massive leak) is to disconnect the hose going from the BPC to the wastegate actuator and go for a hard drive. Pull over immediately (engine running) and examine the turbo. If it's glowing cherry red then you know that the turbo wastegate is working but pressure is escaping somewhere after the compressor. If it's not glowing red, super hot then I'm afraid you need to replace the turbo as the wastegate flap is probably broken/missing. You can remove the downpipe from the turbo and look at the wastegate flap to see if it's intact after things have cooled. On some turbos, the wastegate flap is part of the turbo housing, in which case, you'd have to replace the turbo. On other turbos, the wastegate flap is part of an assembly which you can remove. I cannot recall which turbos this applies to. Hope this helps.
