Karl,
The T5 Trionic employs both ignition cut as well as overboost cut and your symptoms may be related to either. If boost pressures have been increased (through wastegate actuator adjustment, etc), the ECU will detect the increase in manifold pressures via the MAP sensor and trigger an overboost cut. We have seen bad MAP sensors allow for premature overboost protection, but you might consider gauging your manifold/boost pressures to indicate whether these are over factory. A simple reduction of maximum pressures may eliminate this cut but it is also possible to remap the ECU for higher overboost threshold, or bleed a slight amount of pressure at the MAP sensor when under full boost using a manual boost controller.
Ignition misfire could also initiate a cut and is typically when under loaded engine conditions. Make certain that the plug gap is at .039" and that you are only using the BCP 7ES-11 NGK manufactured spark plugs. The DI cassette could be a potential culprit but the symptoms typically change over time (hard start, additional misfire, etc.) as the coils degrade. Although there are diagnositics available, changing the DI cassette for a known good unit for trial may be more realistic if you do not want to take the vehicle in for service.
Best regards for the New Year and regards!,
GSK at SWEDISH DYNAMICS,INC.
