I've an '89 9000T 5-speed with 272,000 km (169,000 mi). You're looking at a 16 yo car, so expect some problems, even with that low mileage. Best would be to budget another $1,000 for repairs and preventative maintainance in year 1 and don't be surprised if its as much in Y2 as you sort things out. Assuming nothing major goes. If you're handy with a wrench, that's a big advantage with any car but especially with an older "project" car.
My car was very well maintained but I'm still into it for about $4000 in the past 2 years. A burned valve and r/r the drive shafts were the biggest items, but I've also done the water pump, both fuel pumps, and the front ball joints.
They're great cars -- fantastic on the highway, and will haul tonnes of stuff -- I've had 12 cuft fridge in mine! And they're hugely safe.
I've no experience with them but have heard that the automatics are less reliable.
Good luck,
Rod.
