Yes, if you can do it yourself it doesn't matter because you haven't paid for it and it might keep the sensor running for another 1000-5k miles who knows?
But since the sensors last around 100 to 200K in a clean burning engine it is no use for a shop trying to mess around with cleaning it. Just install a new one since the price has come down a lot on the Bosch universal ones.
IF? the sensor would need cleaning it is because something else is messed up in the fuel system and if you fix that problem, the new, clean exhausts will clean off the old sensor anyway all by itself.
If the sensor has died from coolant contamination it is nothing rescuing it. I have tried that.
A brand new or fairly sensor can take a gush of coolant without a problem but a sensor nearing the end of it's life span dies right away from the coolant.
