I have found SAABs have 3 lives. The first ends about 110K miles when the owner is sure that bad, expensive things are just about to happen. These owners buy the car new and never do any of the work themselves. Then guys like us get the car. Some of us, like me, give it put new brakes and hydrolic fluid (bleed the clutch too!), struts, suspension bushings, change vacuum lines, belts, flush the radiator, disconnect, clean, and reconnect all the electrical plugs that are easy to get at, ... etc. Then I drive the car without needing anything but tires & front brakes for then next 100K miles. That's the second life. Third life begins with a cluth job, redo the front bushing, changing a failing DIU, might as well change the plugs, and the brakes (hey didn't I already do THAT? oh yeah, that was a long time ago). The third life lasts as long as there's no rust that threatens the safety of the car (I'm in Md now - I did live in VT, I know all about rust!), and the car keeps going. This could be another 100K miles. I did a headliner on a 1983 900T when it had 210K miles. I drove it for another 12 zillion miles.

I have a 93 CSE w/220K on it now. Drives great, BUT, the &*%! TCS/CTRL comes on once a week and I get dumped into LHM (Thought I had it fixed!). This could end the car's 3rd life early.
