doing several jobs over the past two weeks and I really appreciated getting info from the archives [plus a few linked personal websites].
97 Aero: new driver's door regulator, repaired rear wiper motor that went 'out of phase' due to car wash dryer and slippage on the bushing -- it's been several years since I took a door apart and glad I could find where the 'hidden' latch is on the mirror remote switch. I like keeping DIY damage to a minimum.
97 CSE: new water pump (used the site to help diagnose an irregular sound, as well as links on whether to go in from the top or side & move out the A/C compressor); I elected to take off the A/C compressor and did 90 % via the top and bottom, although I did take off the fender liner anyway to check other stuff -- glad I did, main front oil seal is starting to leak. Took my time with the new pump, carefully sanded all the old gasket material, vaselined up the o-rings before reassembly, and soaked the new radiator hoses in a bucket of hot water prior to installation (put in an exp tank hose and lower radiator hose while it was all apart -- what's another $6 compared to the hassle of going back in there again?).
-- plus new rear rotors/pads on the CSE as well
Although January isn't always the best month for repairs in Wisconsin, a propane heater and relative mild weather spell made it viable last week. Maybe someday, when my 'ship comes in', I'll buy a lift for the garage and it'll go ever easier.
I'd never done a couple of these jobs before and again want to thank the contributors, as well as Saabnet, for the excellant archives that made them all go easier (and save at least $550 or more in labor costs by doing it myself). Plus, of course, it's fun to see how all this stuff works.
