I have a 92 9000. I took it to a local tire place and got 4 new tires installed. I also asked for an alignment. I got a call from the garage telling me I needed 2 new inner tie rods. The man told me they were $125.00 each plus labor. That price was outrageous! I got them from the internet for $26.00 each. When I took the boot off of the steering rack though, I found that on the NEW inner tie rod ends, they have a hex-head fitting to put a wrench on, so I could tighten it to the rack. The OLD ones that are on the car are completely ROUND there! Is there a special tool or a trick to get these off??? Also when I took the wheel off, I found that there is very little room to get in and grab the old tie rod with a wrench. I heard of a panel that is removable from inside the car??? Is that true? If I can get the old ones off I am sure I will have no problem getting the new ones on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
