Okay, I did the cabin blower motor replacement last year upon purchasing my pristine '97 Aero with full records - a dream of mine. I sold the '89 cd 2.0 and it is going strong somewhere in Miami (spotted her twice)
Anyway, I should have done the heater core replacement as well at this time but did not have the part or time on this dedicated Saturday. Of course last week I smell the sweet antifreeze and get fogging on inner windshield. Decided to go for the bypass now. Cut both heater core lines on engine side of the firewall and installed my 3/4 brass "U" joint. Required six hose clamps and works like a charm. I believe it will not get any colder than today in Miami until next year (57 degrees for low) Of course I will do the official repair should I ever move North again with the car, however, I save a lot of time and money today and feel like I am in control of this car and not the other way around!
