Easy things to quickly check for fuel and ignition problems you might try:
get some carb cleaner or something of that nature, and squirt some into the intake and try starting it. I had a propane cylinder with a long rubber hose on it, so I used that instead, which I can control from the driver seat.
When I cranked, the engine ran up (it'll only do it briefly, but that's all you're looking for, to check that the ignition and crank sensor is okay)
If it does, you can check for life at the fuel pump by using a small wire (with fuse if you can manage it) to jumper the hazard light fuse to the fuel pump fuse, in the glove compartment relay box, with the engine off.
If your pump is working, you should hear it whine when you connect it.
Next step is to check the system and fuel pump relay operation; remove the hazard light fuse, and connect the wire from the fuel pump to the load side of the hazard light fuse socket (think it's the right side, but you can check to make sure that it doesn't run the pump when connected).
Then turn on the hazard light switch and crank the engine. If the pump and system relays are good, the hazard lights will start flashing as you crank, because they're getting power through the fuel pump relay circuit.
This should also indicate your crank sensor is okay. If the crank sensor is bad, the ECU shouldn't close the relay and you won't get power to the fuel pump circuit.

If you don't get anything when you try the squirt of carb cleaner or propane, you can check for the crank sensor with that indirect method, and if it's okay, then you can check the DI and ignition system.
Probably have to get some tools for that though; and have four extra plugs handy. Pop off the DI, place it upside down and insert the four plugs, and ground the bodies of the plugs to the chassis, then watch for the spark while cranking. If you don't get spark then, probably the infamous DI problem.
