I'm been having some intermittent idle issues where the engine drops almost to the point of stalling and then jumps up to over 1k, and then slowly sinks down again. I heard a dirty throttle body is one cause for this, so I thought I'd try cleaning it.
I'm a newbie DIYer, so to be sure I'm making myself clear I'm going to reference this pic on quasi's site: http://www.quasimotors.com/vacuum_hoses.htm
I gather that the TB is the thing that connects to the intake manifold under the green hose just after it joins the purple and orange. I loosed the clamp where it connnects to the big bent black duct thing, but I couldn't pull it off. It seemed to be stuck on there pretty good, and I didn't want to pry it off with a screwdriver because it seemed kind of brittle and I thought it might crack. It also seemed like it would be a PITA to reattach.
Is the duct-thing (please somebody, tell me its name so I can stop calling it that!) a wear item that needs to be replaced regularly? Is it normally difficult to remove it from the TB?
Thanks,
Nick
