Headlight Control "Relay" Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Wed, 26 Jan 2005 10:04:03 In Reply to: SRS Light Blinking, Scott Runnells, Wed, 26 Jan 2005 06:26:56 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
There are two "relay"-type units found under the hood, just in front of the battery. The smaller of the two is the "headlight control", which is acutally a circuit board stuck into a box that resembles a relay. This would be my first guess as the source of the problem, next is the headlight relay, the other, larger box.
There is a common fault in the headlight control circuit at the solder joints between the circuit board and the carrier; these degrade over time, heat and vibration, leading to cracks. Pop open the cover with a small screwdriver and take a close look. Very easy to repair if you know how to solder, usually just needs to be touched up. Search the archives for more info, especially a post written by Ari on soldering for beginners.
