Hi All,
Time again for California SMOG on my -88 9000 Turbo, uhhh. Last couple of times it has just barely passed. I think last time it may have been due to a faulty sparkplug wire that caused occasional missing - unburned gases.

To be safe (or as safe as possible) since now we have the heavy duty dynamic SMOG test here in the Bay area (same as Southern Cal. has had many years) - I am planning on setting my ignition timing as retarded as allowed. It has to be within factory spec tolerances, if not the will fail it due to that. This will at least lower emssions to some degreee.

My question is: Does anybody know the correct factory RANGE?
Mt Haynes book shows 16 degrees BTDC on Turbo (and 14 for non turbo).
Last smog reprt print oput shows 16 degree actual and the one before that shows 15 degree - so I know I can adjust to 15, but does anybody know if this is as low as you can go within SPEC???

This will be my frist attempt, if this doesn't cut it, I amy have to fork out for a CAT (after testing it of course), O2 was replaced only a couple of years ago and should be OK.

The car runs great and really strong with SPG 9's APC and plenty of boost for several years.

Any ideas on the timing values?

Thanks
