Chances are the high beam issue is due to solder breaks in the orange Headlight Control module, not uncommon. The good news is that this is easily repairable by someone who knows how to use a soldering iron.
Inoperative Cruise Control can be due to many factors besides the switch. Townsendimports.com site has a good diagnostic procedure applicable to certain model years. Without knowing anything else about your car, I would say that the sensor switches on the brake and/or clutch pedals are out of adjustment - these switches automatically disengage the cruise when you want to stop.
