When I did the front-suspension rebuild last year on our '92 9000T, I put in a set of junkyard Aero struts off a very-low-mileage '97 I blundered into at the local pick-your-part. Worked fine.
Being perhaps too ambitious, I bought a set of Bilsteins and put those in the car a couple months later. Drove the car that way for a couple months, until I no longer had any teeth and my kidneys turned into wallpaper paste.
After appropriate medical and dental care, I swapped the Aero pieces back in.
They're just a little soft in front, but I'll live with them for now. They're definitely better than the Bilsteins.
It pains me to say that, because I've used and liked Bilsteins in a bunch of other applications back to and including a '78 99EMS and an '81 900T, but this time 'round they just aren't cutting it.
