If you have an ABS light, you'll get a TCS light. The TCS uses the ABS system for wheel speed. So don't sweat the TCS light.

You didn't mention what year car you have. That helps a lot, as the ABS system is different in different years. If you have the older style, the level in the brake fluid reservoir will be high when the car has been sitting a while. Once you start the car, the level will drop to the FUll line.

When you go to replace the pads, you'll need to press the caliper pistons in. That fluid has to go somewhere. So get yourself a turkey baster, and suck out some fluid from the reservoir BEFORE you start pressing. Be careful with the brake fluid - it eats paint very quickly. If you get some on your hands, wash it off before you touch ANYTHING. Otherwise, the police will be able to get your fingerprints right from your fender.

If you truly have run the pads down to the rivets, chances are good that you've chewed up the rotors. You may need to replace them, or at a minimum, have them turned. I prefer just replacing them.

As to the ABS fault, it may be a simple sensor issue. If you are 'making metal' down there, there will be metal particles collecting in the teeth of the ABS wheel on the hub. That can cause the ABS sensor to read wrong. I would clean out the teeth of the ABs shutter wheel, and that may clean up the ABS faults. But while you're in there, inspect the ABS sensor cables. If they look worn or frayed, you'll need to replace the sensor.
