A rebuilt caliper's quality is really the care taken in cleaning up the old core it is from.A good local rebuilder's product can equall or exceed a name brand rebuilt one.What happened to your old caliper is the dust shield pulled out of place allowing water to get to the square seal that is the main seal in the caliper and allow rust to form in the groove the square seal sits in,binding up the piston.The piston may have the spots where the chrome plating on it has lifted and rust has developed under the plating,and now won't allow you to push it back in thur the square seal.

If this is your first complete brake job,stick with the name brand parts,until you feel confident you know about quality and what to look for.
