don't know if you found a fix yet, but I had a similar problem with a 9000CDT auto I purchased used. flew into nashville to pick up and drive back to california. had a hesitation and miss, felt like what I had experienced on my other 9KCDT due to DI coils leaking oil (replacement fixed it...) so I felt ok to drive home. had several indicators for rear bulb issues so stopped at an auto parts the next morning, and proceeded to replace bulbs. after about an hour of removal and comparison it was plain that someone didn't understand about single and dual filament bulbs, had singles in duals and vice versa. the base contact of a single would short across both of the hot contacts in a dual socket... almost forgot, the previous night I picked up the car noticed that with headlights on turning the key off did not stop the engine. scarey. turn off the headlights (after the key was already removed... how did that work?) and the engine shut off..
short answer, sat in the trunk with both rear light clusters opened, got all new proper bulbs, started the car and after about 30 seconds the self test (which I bet hadn't passed in *years*) turned off all of the complaining indicators. A dark screen just like my car at home. Got on the interstate and ran it up to 100 MPH smoooooth....
hope this helps someone...
