From what I've read, this is a sure sign of impending head gasket failure, but I was wondering if it's safe to take the 200 mile trip home to my parents' house where I can use the garage.

I noticed a small amount of the white stuff on the dipstick when I changed the oil about 300 miles ago but there wasn't any noticeable white stuff in the drained oil so I didn't think anything of it.

I've been maintaining the cooling system as I should - drained, flushed, and refilled about 7 months ago and didn't notice any oil in the drained coolant either. Is there something I could do to buy me some extra time? The coolant level dropped about half way between min and max since I refilled, so it doesn't seem to be leaking too quickly.
