A hole on a one year exhaust pipe, how come?

I've just replace the mid-section of exhaust pipe (middle resonator + pipes) that comes as a whole assembly last year (1 year and 1 months to be exact)
Last week I noticed a little bit more tuddtuddtudddd.... noise from the rear side of the car while idling, thought it would be the rear muffler going, it'd not. The rear muffler's still in good shape, can't believe it's the section that 'd just been replaced. It's a hole size of 1/4 on that pipe just right after the middle resonator. I don't have any idea what's going on, or what made that hole. Very slightly rust compared to that old rear muffler, anything on the midsection of exhaust's still looks great.
I hate to spend another $200 replace the new midsection since I just replace it last year... and because it's just a hole.... Any thought on this problem, or it has to be another $200 way? Any kind of pad or tape I can use to fill in this hole?
TIA,
Pat98
