They are what I originally said: plastic tabs that fit through the pre-drilled holes in the door panel and then are melted to form a blob of plastic that keeps the insert firmly attached to the panel.

What I did was break off all of the metlted blob/ring, leaving the post intact. I am going to use very small screws with a flat washer to screw into the center of the post (they're hollow), with the washer keeping the screw from falling through the hole in the panel. It just needs to stay in place since that part of the door is not tugged on.

The reason I'm not just replacing the whole panel assembly is because I have Sand Beige panels (same as my interior) and am going to use the black leather inserts from the Aero panels I bought off eBay last year. I think it will look nice, given that there are black trim pieces here and there throughout the interior of the car.

I'm also going to install the wood door caps on the top edge of the panels that I bought about 2 years ago. I think the whole combo will really add to the interior.

The one thing I've always wanted to do and have wondered if it would work is to replace the interior door handles with the chrome upgraded ones from a NG900/9-3. They are the same shape and design as the 9K, I just don't know if they have the same attachment pins. Would you know if this would work?

Also, any idea as to if the wood steering wheel upgrade for an older 9-5 would work in the 9K? They also look to be exactly the same (without the radio controls, of course).

Thanks!

Joe
