I wouldn't count on it, although it may be the case. A big air bubble might be more than the system can take.
Let it cool, open the expansion tank and the radiator. If the tank level is low, add coolant to the tank. Close it up and run the engine a few minutes--just enough to move the fluid for a bit. See what happens. If tank level doesn't change, open the radiator again. If the level is still low when you remove the cap, add some fluid, but don't fill it, to allow room for expansion. I've done this and been okay, but this is not necessarily the preferred procedure. YMMV.
I had this happen on a VW, and I had to add coolant via one of the hoses to get the air out.
