On my 1998 CSE a half moon shaped cut is in the carpet around each hump over the tops of the shock towers so all you do is fold them down while your working. Its been a while but I seem to remember that on our 1994CSE there were half moon shaped detents in the carpet but they were not cut through. You must cut them with a razor or utility knife. In both cases the "humps" fold back in place neatly and the cuts are not noticable. Its a lot easier than removing the entire carpet.
