I had (or rather have) a '93 CS NA, but bought a '97 CSE last Nov. as it had low miles (48K) and seemed cheap for the car ($7000.) The main reason was that the '93 seemed anemic to me and also, the interior was looking a bit dowdy after all those years and miles.
Six months later, I'm glad I bought the '97. However, ironically I find it to have a lower quality of build than the '93. There are all kinds of places where electrical connectors are banging against the inside of the doors, rear speakers are loose, parts of the body are falling off because a bolt wasn't installed correctly, busted switches and relays, and the like. Not big stuff, but things Saab should have done better on. I'm assuming a lot of these problems were factory-related because the car has such low mileage. It was first sold in 3/98, too.
In short, buying a later model 9K is buying some time, but be prepared for a car that sounds like a bucket of bolts driving over rough pavement even though it may last a few hundred thousand miles. That's my experience, anyway. It all depends on the individual car, of course.
Go for it, but check it out carefully before you buy.
