Temporary clutch failure????

Yesterday my wife was out with our 96 9000 CS (145k). After parking for a few minutes she returned, started the car, and was unable to get the car in gear. She said the clutch felt normal. About an hour later I get to the car, started it up, and it shifted normally and continuted to shift normally all day. The clutch, master, and slave are original, and the hydraulic line from the master to the slave was replaced about 2 years ago.
Any ideas on what happend and why it fixed itself?
