Check your grounds Posted by Ari [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Bulb failure indicator, Jon `91 9kT, Thu, 17 Mar 2005 08:03:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Very possibly the grounds at the rear brake clusters are getting a little weak. The current from the turn signal bulb can't make it to ground, so it finds a way through a brake light or parking light filament, causing the pictogram to kick off.
First, make sure the contacts on all bulbs are good and clean - both the bulb and receptacle. Re-seat the connector between the board and cable. Make sure they are the Right bulbs - that a dual filament didn't get replaced by a single, and vice-versa. If that checks out OK, follow the black wire from each board to where it ties to ground. Remove the bolt/nut, and clean all the surfaces with some fine sandpaper or Scotchbrite - just a few swipes, don't take off the plating. Tighten back down. That should fix it.
