4 - 5 hours first time. Cover the engine well with a soft blanket to keep your knees from brusing. Wear gloves to keep your hands from shredding. Take pictures with a digital camera to keep your cool from blowing. You can do it without removing A/C or heater hoses. Use a bungy cord from the hood to the a/c housing to help hold it to the starboard side while you work the motor housing free pulling it to port (there's a 1 inch wide rubber band that mates the two housings together) There are 2 built-on clips holding the motor housing to the firewall. They are on either side of the housing and are very difficult to see. Screwdriver will pop em loose. Have a small flashlight, magnetic retrieval tool, and sponges with warm water to clean up around the aquarium area. The motor housing comes apart by removing several small clips that have a tendency to fly away when you pry them off. Do that after you get the housing out otherwise they'll get lost in the bilge. Getting housing out is the fun part and will take the most time - at least 2 beers.
Good luck - you'll be proud when you finish.
