Bill, you are right about the size of the socket. The OE pressure sensor I took out of my car was 24mm across the flats. A deep 1 inch (25.4mm) socket worked just fine. The replacement sensor I got was 22mm across the flats. For this one, a 7/8 inch socket (22.2mm) did the trick.
I have an old Craftsman SAE set that goes up 1 3/4 inch and I find myself occasionaly matching up the large sizes to metric nuts when I need them. Most metric sets go up to 19mm, and for the big nuts a 1mm larger size is no big deal.
