My concern is that even if the JBWeld works, it will fail very shortly. The JBWeld is nice and stiff- where the edge of the weld meets the rubber will be a major stress point. Since the CV joint rubber has already demonstrated weakness, you will just be finding a new place to fail.
It may last a few days - it'll last a week for sure, but only if you don't drive it.
I've never tried a patch, although I've thought about them. I figure the only thing that might work would be a flexible rubber patch, as that wouldn't just create a stress point. I don't know if some silicone sealants work on rubber, or some rubberized roof patch.
If it is a very small tear, you are OK for a week or so, assuming you don't drive a lot (don't take a 750 mile trip).
