I acquired a used CD/EQ in a very bizarre way. A few weeks ago, my quasi "uncle", now 85 years old (and who probably should not have been driving for about the last ten years!), wrecked his pristine '93/94 Classic 900T convertible by pulling out in front of an SUV at a corner about a block from my house - miraculously, he was unscratched. I happened to walk by a few minutes later, made sure he was OK, his wife had already arrived and called for a tow. I took a look at the obviously twisted car and told him it was beyond feasible repair, which is a big shame because he has offered to sell it to me at various times (if it wasn't an automatic I may have jumped on it). Anyway, the total loss being obvious, he asked me if there was anything I wanted from it, so I ran home, got four nails and pulled out the CD/EQ (same unit at the 9000) just as the tow truck was arriving.

The several times that he wanted to get rid of the car, I told him what needed repair and where to take it or send it to get it fixed (i.e. not the dealer). I know that the CD/EQ should be in good shape as I sent it to Clarion for him a year or two ago. It was a great car for him, he's quite a character, big diamond ear stud, loved to drive with the top down, sun reflecting off of his bald dome. He's leasing a Korean car as a replacement - a shame, but I guess his insurance is sky high and a lease is an obvious acknowledgement that he is not going to drive forever.

I still haven't installed it, it's been too cold and I have had a handful of Audi repairs (wife's car) and other things to attend to, now completed. Now that it's officially spring, I will have to get around to installing it soon.
