After you drain or lower the coolant using SteveW's suggestion, remove the rubber elbow that connects the intake tube to the throttle body. Disconnect the two hoses from AIC valve underneath the intake where they connect to the throttle body. Slide the AIC valve off of the mounting pin (pull towards the battery) and disconnect the electrical connector at the back of the AIC. Remove the coolant hose from the throttle body and push it out of the way. Disconnect the electrical connector from the throttle switch and move the connector out of the way. Loosen the coolant hose from the thermostat housing. You should now have a relatively clear shot at the thermostat housting.

Remove the two small bolts from the top of the thermostat housing that hold the tube that goes over to the water pump. You don't have to remove the tube, just move it out of the way slightly. Note that there is a black wire under one of these bolts. That wire is the ground wire for the DI cassette. (Kind of an odd place to put it, don't you think? If you forget to put the wire back on, the car won't start.

Once you get the bracket out of the way, take off the thermostat housing. I used a box end wrench to get the two housing bolts off because it seemed like it was hard to get my socket wrench in the confined space. Even if you have drained the car, there will be some coolant spillage when you take off the housing. Put something over the transmission to keep the coolant from dripping down into the clutch.
